PS3 Coming to Akihabara
Sony to put playable units on display at upcoming game show."
At last year's Akihabara Entama Festival, Sony gave the Japanese public a second chance to witness its Tokyo Game Show PlayStation theater. This year, Sony will repeat the act, bringing its Tokyo Game Show PS3 titles a little closer to Tokyo for two days of playable next gen gaming.
The Akihabara Entama Festival, a part of the Tokyo Asia-Pacific Entertainment Festival, will be held in Akihabara, Tokyo's newly refurbished electronics capital,
from 10/21 to 10/29. On the last two days of the event, Sony will set up PlayStation 3 demo units for all to sample. The list of PS3 titles resembles Sony's Tokyo Game Show lineup. Here's a look at what Sony and its third parties have marked as playable at the event:
Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom)
Virtua Fighter 5 (Sega)
Ridge Racer 7 (Bandai Namco Games)
Gundam Target in Sight (Bandai Namco Games)
flOw (Sony)
Formula One Championship Edition (Sony)
Genji (Sony)
Heavenly Sword (Sony)
Lair (Sony)
Monster Kingdom Unknown Realms (Sony)
MotorStorm (Sony)
Resistance (Sony)
The Eye of Judgment (Sony)
Minna no Golf 5 (Sony)
Gran Turismo HD (Sony)It's currently unknown of these will be updated versions of what was shown at the Tokyo Game Show, or if Sony will be recycling the old builds.
The PSP and PS2 will also make it to the show. For the PS2, Sony will show Wild Arms the Vth Vanguard and Minna no Tennis in playable form. Appearing in playable form on the PSP will be Jeanne d' Arc, Ape Escape Racer, Parappa the Rapper and the recently released Tenchi no Mon 2. The PSP Chotto Shot camera will also be shown, as will the GPS receiver, the latter alongside compatible titles like Maplus Portable Navi, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Homestar Portable and Minna no Golf.
This event will mark the first time the PS3 will go on display for the Japanese public to play, outside of the Tokyo Game Show. Sony is scheduled to put demo kiosks at retailers throughout Japan, but not until early November.
We'll be sure and make the trip out to Akihabara on the 28th to let you know how things are looking a couple of week's prior to the PS3's launch."
