Here is a list of the v2 maps and game types. This list specifies the official maps for each gametype. Note that only MLG CTF on The Pit and Narrows are map-specific, the rest of the game types (Team Slayer, Oddball and King of the Hill) work for all maps. Read below for more additional details about downloading the maps and changes made to the v2 gametypes.

What follows is a detailed description of how to download the new maps and the changes we made moving from version 1 to version 2:

How to Download

To download Halo 3 files you do NOT need to be friends with the person who made them. All you need to do is go to Bungie.net, sign in (the same email under which your Halo 3 gamertag is registered) and download from that person's file share. The next time you sign into Halo 3, the game will automatically download them.

All MLG Halo 3 game types from now on will be under the gamertag “MLG Gametypes”. To download the version 2 game types go to MLG Gametypes’ Fileshare and click on the “Download to Halo 3” links for each of the maps and game types. Each time you click on a “Download to Halo 3” link, Bungie.net will tell you that the download has been queued. The next time you sign into Halo 3, you will download the files.

Version 2 Changes

Before getting into specifics, here are a few general things. Firstly, MLG game types are always a work in progress. New strategies, discoveries and constant testing change the way we play the game and our settings will reflect this evolution. Secondly, the assault rifle and shotgun have been removed from v2 gametypes. We felt that both weapons were too powerful. The assault rifle diminished skilled shooting and overpowered the Carbine/BR even at mid-range. The shotgun had no equivalent at short range and, especially on a map such Guardian, was completely overpowering. The Mauler remains in the game and should turn out to be an important weapon to control.

Onto the details. Remember these are the highlights. Players will find more changes as they get in and play these game types.


Overall Changes

* A custom overshield has been added to The Pit and gives players 3x shield which is similar to the Halo 2 shield, increasing default Halo 3 power.
* Shield recharge rate is now 90%. The maps are relatively large and after testing for some time we found that too often players would seek cover after taking fire and recharge their shields before enemies had time to pursue an advantage. By making the shield recharge rate slower, the game takes on a faster pace.
* Damage Modifier upped to 110%. This makes the Battle Rifle slightly more powerful (one fewer bullet, 11 instead of 12, to kill) and the Carbine is now seven instead of eight shots (with a headshot) to kill. This change also means that less shots are required before or after a melee in order to kill. Again, this alteration makes the game faster-paced and encourages skilled shooting.
* Player speed increased to 110%. This speeds up the game play and makes targets harder to hit because strafing is slightly faster.
* Melee damage dropped to 50% when carrying the flag or ball. Holding the flag or ball and meleeing is now only slightly more powerful than a regular melee.


Map Specific Changes (Forge)

Narrows
* Multiflag Narrows now has a three-second return (you must stand on the flag for three seconds to return it). This change is made so players can stand and shoot and also because it was becoming too difficult to score due to the large “hit box” for returning flags which made a touch return too easy.
* Shotgun removed, Rockets placed bottom middle in default shotgun spawn. This change was made to encourage less of a blind rocket charge and more of an organized fight for them.
* Brute shots replaced by Maulers
*Power-ups removed

Isolation
* Now an even number of frag and plasma grenades on map
* Six Carbines added that spawn in the bases and top-middle area.
* Sniper moved to against the wall and rocket moved away from sniper and towards the "hole”. These changes were made to make it harder to obtain sniper and rockets in one move and get away with both power weapons.

The Pit
* Custom OS spawns in the boxed-in area right in front of default OS spawn (directly under “sword spawn”).
* Sword replaced by mauler
* Crates added inside the bases and next to platforms. These additions encourage movement and make it harder to trap a team inside a base. In CTF it gives the team the ability to move the flag straight towards the middle instead of having to backtrack to get out of the base first.
* Flag is on 15-second, no-touch return. Flag does not have to be at home to score (similar to Sanctuary CTF in Halo 2). Unlike Halo 2, however, if the flag is no picked up with in the 15-second time limit, it will return, i.e. there’s no flag contesting.
* The top areas are now lined with fusion coils to prevent camping (due to the emergency spawn system in Halo 3 there was no way to eliminate spawning there).

Guardian
*Four Carbines on map at Blue, Yellow, Forest and Sniper. These weapons will be effective given the condensed nature of battles on the map.
* Sniper moved up to Snipe 3.
* No more overshield. This change evens out the map by making one side have invisibility and one side have sniper rifle.
* Shotgun removed and Hammer replace by Mauler.

Construct
*Carbines added.
* Initial spawns changed so teams spawn facing each other at opposite purples, but they cannot see each other because the bottom area is slightly elevated. This move makes access to the weapons off the start even. * Sword removed


Looking Forward

Expect to see MLG v3 gametypes on or before January 1st, 2008. We hope to play around with hill locations to make them more difficult to hold. This alteration will encourage map control before hopping in the hill. We want to change initial spawns more to make the start of the games more fair. Expect the new maps to play a role in the future! The possibilities of Foundry seem to be endless. We hope to tinker with the hills so they are easier to see out of. Power weapons and power-ups should become more prevalent as time goes on and we are able to test them.

One last thing, the time between v2 and v3 will be much less than the time it took us to get to v2 from v1 because this is now one of our primary focuses, whereas before we had several live events to deal with after the release of Halo 3. Expect MLG v3 gametypes on or before January 1st.

Calkiem sporo zmian mi sie bardzo podoba, jednak wpierdzielanie maulera wszedzie juz nie - zwlaszcza, ze mozna go dualowac (taki slepy zaulek). Rowniez bardzo zadawalajoce jest zmniejszenie predkosci regeneracji shielda, 110% speed run - standard juz od v1 jesli sie nie myle, bardzo dobra zmiana. A DMG minimalnie zwiekszony... tylko zwiekszy roznice miedzy poczatkujacymi, a prawdziwymi killerami (niestety na moja nie korzysc, ale i tak dobra zmiana laugh.gif).
Co do trybow... juz chcialem je sciagac, ale sobie odpuszcze jak maja nowe byc za miesiac - leniwy jestem czasem tongue.gif.

Zmiany zdecydowanie na lepsze, trzeba tylko chwilki by sie przestawić. Graliśmy wczoraj m. in. z Nelsonem i Filem 2vs2 i wrażenia w 100% in plus. A że mauler na mapach? Ja uważam ze to bardzo dobrze bo jak jest snajpa która daje przewagę na długi dystans, to i coś na krotki powinno być - a mauler to "najmniejsze zło" wink.gif tongue.gif

Dlatego trzeba szerzyć te zasady bo wiara się zraża do Halo grając matchmaking ;/

Flahę mu! smile.gif . Od uja Polaków olało H3 bo stwierdzili ze gra ogranicza sie do biegania + strzelanie z AR, a potem tylko kolba. Nic bardziej mylnego!
